Lady Warriors Lose to the Tribe 19-14
in the last 29 seconds!
The Amazons fought a good battle on the gridiron last Saturday night not only against the Tribe but also against the weather and themselves.
Striking first with a lead of 6-0 the Tribe quickly answered the Amazons but just as the Lady Warriors felt they were gaining momentum as they headed down the field with 3 minutes left before half-time the game was called to an halt due to severe lighting storms. That delayed the game and the Amazons momentum.
Approximately 40 minutes later the game resumed and the Amazons scored again and went for the 2pt-coversion leaving the score 14-6 late in the quarter.
The Tribe never giving up scored again, but missed the extra point leaving the game 14-12 with just under 1:55 seconds to go.
The Amazons were not able to control the clock, keep down the penalties and keep the Tribe in good field possession. The Tribe with just 29 seconds left, 4th down and 4yrds to go for a first down stole the show as they passed and ran for a 25 yard touchdown changing the outcome of the game and ending the Amazons season.
Head Coach Aubrey Duncan stated “This game was in our hands and we let it slip away. It just was not the outcome we expected”.
The Amazons organization would like to thank our friends, family and fans for all their wonderful support this season. Also to our sister team for a wonderful and challenging season we hope to see everyone next season.
